WORCESTER- Timothy “Larry” O’Connell, 80, of Worcester died Monday, February 7th in UMass Memorial Medical Center- University Campus as a result of injuries from a fall on the ice February 3rd. He leaves his wife of 54 years, Nancy (McCormack) O’Connell; three sons, Timothy L. O’Connell of Jacksonville Beach, FL, John M. O’Connell of Worcester and Brian R. O’Connell of Jacksonville Beach, FL; two daughters, Kerry O’Connell of Haverhill and Lauren O’Connell Martin and her husband, Dr. William Martin of Peterborough, NH; three grandsons, Daniel, Andrew and Matthew Martin of Peterborough, NH.
He was born in Haverhill, the son of Timothy L. and Esther (Shevenell) O’Connell. He attended schools in Newburyport and West Palm Beach, FL, and was a proud and loyal alumnus of the College of the Holy Cross, class of 1952. During the Korean War he served as an administrative assistant in the Army Medical Corps. He was a longtime active member of Blessed Sacrament Church. He was a realtor for over 50 years and the owner of Larry O’Connell Real Estate, which was established in the early 1960’s. He was an ethical businessman and a fine Christian gentleman. He loved his family dearly and they loved him.
The funeral is Monday, February 14th with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant Street. Calling hours are Sunday, February 13th from 2:00 until 5:00 PM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. The family asks that instead of flowers, donations in Larry’s memory be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
