Obituary

Aquinas M. (Moloney) Aalto, 89, of Millis died February 8 in the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham. She was the wife of the late Tauno “Duke” Aalto who died in 2000.
Born in Athol, May 2, 1921, the daughter of the late James and Eloise (Center) Moloney, Mrs. Aalto was raised in Brighton and had lived in Millis for over 50 years.
Mrs. Aalto had also been a resident of Manomet for many years.
Mrs. Aalto had been the poet laureate of the Town of Millis. She had been a member of the Finnish American Society of Cape Cod, the Longfellow Poetry Society of Sudbury, the Finnish Club of Saima Park in Fitchburg, the Grand Pals of Millis, the Millis Council on Aging, the Massachusetts Extension Services of the Norfolk County Agricultural School in Norfolk, and a member of the "Tuesday Gang" of Millis.
Mrs. Aalto was an accomplished poet who had a book of her poetry published. She also loved to do arts and crafts.
She is survived by her children, Tauno “Duke” Aalto, Jr. and his wife Sally of Dunnellon, Florida, Michael Aalto and his late wife Eileen of Pembroke, Maureen Clancy and her husband Paul of Windsor, VT and Winter Garden, Florida, April “Cindy” Pontz and her husband Randy of Port Charlotte, Florida, Linda Aalto and her partner Linda Gowen of Attleboro and the late Bruce Aalto.
She was the sister of the late James, William, Robert Moloney and Marjorie Drummey.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael, Jr., Brian, Randy, Jr., Colleen, April, and Paul, III. and 7 great-grandchildren.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 12 in St. Thomas Church in Millis at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Millis.
Calling hours will be on Friday from 4-8 p.m. in the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway.
