DOROTHY M. (SCHNIEDERS) FRANTZ, 93, passed away on February 8, 2011 after a full and rewarding life. She was born March 29, 1917 and was a lifelong resident of Shively, Ky. and St. Helen Church community.
She holds ownership in Thelmal Lanes, Inc., a member of Louisville Women’s Bowling Assoc., St. Helen Altar Society, and Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Volunteer Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Carrie Schnieders, and brothers, Alton “Al J.”, Edward “Ed”, and Henry “Hank”.
She was a loving mother to her five surviving children, Louis “Sonny” Frantz (Claire), Judy Frantz Drury (Ed), J. Terry Frantz (Carol), Gary L. Frantz (Jean), and David M. Frantz (Linda); a special Grandma to 17 grandchildren, Cindy, Vicki, Ronnie, Donnie, Lynn, Roger, Leslee, Kelly, Troy, David, Chris, Carrie, Jason, Shannon, Todd, Dawn and Michael. She was “Grandma Dot” to her 41 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at Mary Queen of Peace, St. Helen Campus, 4005 Dixie Highway with entombment in Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m. Thursday and 12 – 8 p.m. Friday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Mass of the Air or WHAS Crusade for Children.
