Ronald O. Johnson, 60, of Ansonia, CT died unexpectedly on Sunday February 6, 2011 at the Griffin Hospital, in Derby, CT. He was born on October 4, 1950 in Lynn, MA, a son of Robert O. and the late Nancy E. (Smith) Johnson. He was a resident of Ansonia for over 25 years, formerly living in Fremont, NH. Ronnie was a graduate of Sanborn Regional High School in Kingston, NH and later served in the US Navy. He was employed for the past 25 years as a Maintenance Supervisor for Beaver Brook Apartments in Ansonia, CT, a job he was completely devoted to and truly enjoyed doing. He had been on the Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the dart league in Derby, CT. Ronnie had many, varied passions in his life. He enjoyed music, playing his guitars and piano, NASCAR, and outdoor activities. He also loved life and had a wonderful sense of humor. He had a special relationship and was very devoted to his daughter Brooke and grandson Hunter.
He is survived by three daughters, Brooke Richards of E. Waterboro, ME, Peggy Rose of Hinsdale, NH, Jenny Hobby of Massachusetts, one son, Robert Johnson II of Massachusetts, eight grandchildren, his father, Robert O. Johnson and step-mother Carol Ann McFarland, of Chester, NH, three sisters, Judy Johnson-Boodakian of Derry, NH, Donna Johnson of Sandown, NH, Rev. Beth Johnson- Crawford of Derry, NH, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was also survived by his extended work family, Judy Taylor, Carol Ferino, Richard Rosa, John and the crew of the Beaver Brook Apartments. He was predeceased by his mother Nancy E. Johnson in 1990.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, a memorial service was held on Saturday, February 19th at 2:00pm in the Peoples United Methodist Church, 363 Main St., Fremont, NH. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry handled the arrangements.
