Obituary

Brockton – Phillip E. White, Jr. 66, a life long resident of Brockton, died Tuesday February 8 after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of Olga (Lyman) White.

Born in Randolph and raised in Brockton he was the son of the late Philip E. and M. Christine (LaBelle) White and a graduate of Brockton High Class of 1962.

Phillip was a proud veteran of the US Air Force having served from 1962 – 1966. During the Gulf War he co-founded “Operation Brockton Cares” a group of volunteers who packaged and sent shoeboxes of items needed by the troops of the Gulf War.

He owned and operated his own business as a licensed private detective. He co-founded the Licensed Private Detective Association of Massachusetts. For his commitment and excellence in his profession he was a recipient of the prestigious Julius Bombet, CLI Lifetime Achievement Award.

He was a longtime active member of the Brockton Rotary and was awarded several times “Rotarian of the Year” for his outstanding service. Phillip also co-founded and was a member of the Massachusetts Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club.

In addition to his wife Olga he is survived by his loving sister Elaine Kangiser of Raynham, and his brother David White of NH as well as loving nieces and nephews.

His services will be held Friday February 11 at 8:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 9 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow at 12:45 PM in the MA VA Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours will be held Thursday February 10 from 4-8 PM.
