Louise B. Towler, age 97, died Saturday, February 5, 2011.
Born March 1, 1913 in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Peyton W. Barbour and Ardena Shelhorse Barbour. She was a homemaker and wife to her husband, Juby Towler, who predeceased her in 1976. Mrs. Towler was a longtime member of Melville Avenue Baptist Church where she participated in the WMU and taught Sunday School classes.
Survivors include two sons: Joseph Towler and his wife Avon of Richmond, VA, Terry Towler and his wife Elsie of Dillwyn, VA; five grandchildren: William Towler of Richmond, Matthew Towler and Paul Towler, both of Virginia Beach, Dr. Michael Towler of Greensville, SC, and Toby Towler of Farmville. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services officiated by the Rev. Jimmy Dunn will be held on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Highland Burial Park. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Melville Avenue Baptist Church.
