Dorothy A. Kennedy, 82, of Smith Avenue, Greenville, died Friday, February 4, 2011. She was the widow of Thomas W. Kennedy, Jr.
Born in Warwick, she was a daughter of the late Leo A. and Anna (Guiette) Sullivan. She had lived in Greenville since 1964.
Mrs. Kennedy had graduated from St. Xavier’s Academy in 1946 and the Metropolitan Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. She later graduated from RI College, School of Education and earned her Master’s degree from URI in 1968. She retired from nursing in 1966 and taught reading in the Providence School System until her retirement in 1989.
She is survived by her children Thomas J. Kennedy of Greenville and Mary Kennedy of Danielson, CT and her grandchildren; Paul Scanlon and Caitlin Kennedy. She was the sister of the late Barbara Leach, Thomas and Irene Moran and Rosella Marzilli.
Funeral Wednesday at 8:30 from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville.
