Obituary

Henry B. "Hank" Judge, Jr., 82, a retired Lawrence Firefighter of 32 years, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at the Sutton Hill Nursing Center in North Andover, MA.

Born in Lawrence to the late Henry B. Judge, Sr., and Olive Gertrude (Hegginbotham) Judge, Hank was educated in the Lawrence Schools and was a 1945 graduate of Lawrence High School. He then went on to receive his Associates Degree from North Shore Community College in Fire Science. Hank was appointed to the Lawrence Fire Department in 1956 and served until her retired in 1988. In 1975, he was awarded Fireman of the year from the Exchange Club. Hank was on the Board of Directors of the Lawrence Firefighter's Credit Union from 1975 to 1989, and was the Treasurer from 1984 to 1988. He was a member of the Lawrence Firefighters Local 146 as well as a United States Navy Veteran of World War II. Hank was a former member of the Lawrence Lodge of Elks, B.P.O.E.#65. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish-St. Augustine's Church in Lawrence where he had served as a Eucharistic Minister until moving to Seabrook, NH.

Hank is survived by his wife of 62 years: Margaret V. (Palmer) Judge as well as his children: Henry "Bernie" Judge, III and his wife Donna of North Andover, MA, Janet Bertolino and her husband Xavier of Gloucester, MA, and Brian Judge and his wife Celeste of Ramstein, Germany. He is also survived by his sister: Olive Nelson and her husband Warren of Raymond, NH, as well as 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces. He was very fond of his late cats "Nikki" and "Amy".

A Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February, 5, 2011 at 11:30 A.M. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish-St. Augustine Church, 128 Ames St., Lawrence, MA. Burial will follow in the Bellevue Cemetery, also in Lawrence. Family and friends may call at the church prior to the funeral mass from 9:30 to 11:30 A.M.
