Obituary

HOLDEN - Peter Eric Angelsten, 84, died peacefully on Monday, January 31, 2011 after a brief illness. He was born December 11th, 1926 in Orebro, Sweden, son of Albert and Sigrid (Backvall) Angelsten and came to the United States in 1951. He was schooled in Sweden and served in the Swedish Merchant Marines, which took him to many places in North Africa. He was employed at the former Massachusetts Protective Association and then at Astra Pharmaceutical Company as their Traffic Manager for 27 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Worcester Art Museum, and his own painting skills are evident in our lives. He was a past member of the Masons. He also founded the Socialette Club in the 1960's which organized trips to Sweden.

Eric leaves his wife of 34 years, Lois A. "Loie" (Carlson) Angelsten, a daughter, Pamela S. Lapoint and her husband Craig of West Warren, MA; Peter D. Angelsten of Wheelwright, MA; Craig A. Angelsten of Holden; four grandchildren, Andrew, Samuel and Kirsten Lapoint and Bryce Angelsten. He also leaves relatives in Sweden. His first wife, Kersten, died in 1972. He was predeceased by two brothers, Bengt and Nils.

The family extends its gratitude to everyone at the Summit Eldercare, East Mountain Street, for the kind, compassionate care they gave to Eric, where he spent many happy hours .

There are no calling hours. A memorial service to celebrate Eric's life will be held at 11am on Saturday, Feb. 5th in Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster St., Worcester. Burial will be at 11am Monday, Feb. 7th in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, MA. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester is directing arrangements.
