Velma Williams, age 68, died Monday, January 31, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. Born in Hughes, AR to the late William Columbus and Ethel Jane Rock Miller, she had lived in the Water Valley area with her daughter for the last three years. She worked as a seamstress for many years and enjoyed reading and sewing for her family and friends.
A graveside service is planned for Thursday, February 3, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Delay Baptist Church Cemetery in Water Valley. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service. Her grandchildren and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Velma is survived by two daughters, Darlene Webb of Marion, AR, and Elizabeth Rutland of Lafayette County; three sisters, Shirley Black of West Memphis, AR, Dale Cooley of Osceola, AR, and Peggy Dudy of Old Town, FL.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Nora Mae Pickle, Dora Lee Pickle, Delma Yarbrough, and Mary Sue Miller; and two brothers, I. D. Miller and William Miller.
