Rene A. Lavallee of Old River Rd., Manville, died Sunday at home surrounded by his family. He was in his ninetieth year. Mr. Lavallee was the loving husband of Jeannette R. (Lussier) Lavallee. They were married on July 6, 1946.
Born in Manville, he was a son of the late William and Yvonne (Beaudoin) Lavallee. He was a lifelong resident of Manville. He was a graduate of Mount St. Charles Academy and Hill College.
Mr. Lavallee served in the Navy during WWII in Africa and England. He was awarded the Victory Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Medal, and the American Area Medal.
Mr. Lavallee worked for the State of Rhode Island as a revenue agent and retired in 1983.
In addition to his wife of 64 years, he is survived by six daughters, Renee Lavallee of Hawaii, Claire Haponik and her husband Dr. Edward of North Carolina, Lorraine Perkins and her husband Thomas of Manville, Jeanne Desjardins and her husband Charles of Woonsocket, Denise Bryer and her husband John of Pennsylvania, and Diane Bottoms and her husband John of North Carolina. He was the brother of the Doris Trahan of RI & FL, and the late Constant and Robert Lavallee. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10:00 am in St. James Church, Division St., Manville. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI. 02904. Arrangements are by the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home.
