Obituary

M. Marie Pittman, 91, of Washington, passed away at 6 p.m, Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka with her family by her side.

Marie was born on October 12, 1919 in Portageville, Missouri to William J. and Aby Williams Moore. She married Charles E. Pittman in Piggott, Arkansas on June 8, 1940. Charlie survives.

Also surviving is one daughter, Sherry (Gary) Minter of East Peoria; one son, Charles J. “Chuck” (Deborah) Pittman of Morton; three sisters, Myrtle Moore and Maxine (Johnny) Bridges, both of St. Louis, Missouri and Imogene Mayberry of Scott City, Missouri and three grandchildren, Rachel (Richard) Kemper, Sarah Minter and Rebekah Minter. Marie was preceded in death by an infant son, two brothers and five sisters.

Marie was an avid gardener and an outstanding cook. She will always be remembered for being a caring mother to her children and devoted wife to Charlie.

She was a charter and faithful member of Beverly Manor Missionary Baptist Church where she had been active in the various ladies groups and also known there for her outstanding culinary skills.

Funeral services will be held at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington on Saturday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Michael McCoskey officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Senior World in Peoria or her church.
