Obituary

James P. Finnegan, Sr., 73, of Hartford Pike, died unexpectedly Saturday, January 29, 2011 at his home. He was the husband of Rosalie T. (Sahib) Finnegan.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Frederick and Edna (McCreary) Finnegan. He had lived in Foster since 1980 and had previously lived in Warwick. He was a Korean Army veteran.
Mr. Finnegan enjoyed watching sports, gardening, taking care of his back yard birds and numerous birdhouses and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his beloved dog, Rocco. Before retiring he worked in the generating department at Narragansett Electric. He was most recently employed by Dr. Charles C. Calenda in Warwick.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Lisa J. Finnegan of Lincoln, Susan F. Beard and her husband, James of Glocester, and James P. Finnegan, Jr. of Foxboro, MA; his grandchildren, James A. Beard, Jr., Brittany and Courtney Finnegan and his siblings; Eileen Perriello of Johnston, Frederick Finnegan, Jr. of Cranston, Diane Leeder of Putnam, CT, Mary Korman of Attleboro, Kathleen Sousa of Cranston, Edna LaPlante of Warwick, Joseph Finnegan of Hampden, MA, Michael Finnegan of N. Attleboro, MA, Kevin Finnegan of Warwick, Judith Labbe of Cumberland and Sharon Metevier of Attleboro and numerous brothers and sisters in-law. He was the brother of the late Sr. Dorothy Finnegan, RSM.
His funeral will be held Friday at 10am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Paul the Apostle Church, 116A Danielson Pike, Foster, RI 02825. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall, River, MA. Visitation Thursday 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Church.
