WORCESTER-Joan M. (Sheerin) Foley, 79, of Worcester, died Sunday, January 30th in the Meadows of Leicester. She leaves her husband of 56 years, Bernard F. Foley; her grandson, Stephen M. Foley of Worcester; many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her son, Stephen C. Foley in 1994 and her brother, Philip T. Sheerin.
Mrs. Foley was born in Worcester, the daughter of Thomas and Helen Sheerin. She was a graduate of South High School and obtained her Master Degree from Worcester State College. Mrs. Foley was a teacher for 31 years at Mill Swan School and May Street Elementary School, retiring in 1991. She was a member of Christ the King Church and the former St. Charles Borromeo Church. Mrs. Foley enjoyed spending time in Florida and South Dennis, the beach, and reading.
The funeral is Tuesday, February 1st from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at Noon in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 10:30 until 11:30 AM Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Worcester State University, 486 Chandler Street, Worcester, MA 01602.
