
Virginia Helene Jackson Piercy, age 84, died Saturday, January 29, 2011 in Piney Forest Health Care, after a serious decline in health.
Born July 13, 1926 in the Swansonville community of Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Andrew A. Jackson and Winnie Riddle Jackson. She lived most of her life in Danville and was employed by Dan River, Inc. for 40 years. She was married to Walter Bickett Piercy, who predeceased her in June 1994.
Survivors include one daughter: Sharion Piercy Jones of Danville; five sons: Rodger D. Piercy of Providence, Russell A. Piercy of Danville, Walter David Piercy of Roanoke, Harold M. Piercy of Danville, Leonard Irvin Piercy of Green Bay, Virginia; two sisters: Beatrice Davis and Curtis Coleman, both of Danville; three brothers: Linwood Jackson and Douglas Jackson, both of Danville, and James D. Jackson of Hopewell, VA; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three brothers: Richard Jackson, Lloyd Jackson, and Norman Jackson.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Kenneth Hall will be held on Monday, January 31, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Sheldon Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, January 30, 2011, from 7 until 9:00 p.m. at Swicegood Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the residence of her son Rodger Piercy, 198 Pinewood Road, Providence, NC.
