Manuel S. Arruda, age 80 of Fall River, passed away Jan. 27, 2011. He was the husband of Ilda Medeiros (Rosa) Arruda. Born in Bretanha, Sao Miguel, Azores the son of the late John S. and Emily (Morreira) Arruda. Prior to retiring in 1995, Manuel was a Carpenter for 10 years with Clement-Arruda Contractors and previously as a Solderer for Rose-Mary Silver Co. He was a communicant of St. Michael Church and a member of the Affonso Costa Republican Club.
Manuel was the father of Liduino “Lenny” Arruda, Lena Pedro, Maria Goncalo, Anna Tavares, Regina “Reggie” Arruda all of Fall River, Natalie Gomes of N. Dartmouth, the brother of Teresinha Silva, Leontina Arruda, and Maria Hilario all of Fall River, Rev. Henry Arruda of Taunton, Clement Arruda of Dartmouth, late Emilia Rego, late Joseph S. Arruda, late John S. Arruda, and the late James Arruda, grandfather of 15, great grandfather of 7, and uncle to many nieces & nephews.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME 1521 N. Main St., Fall River MONDAY here at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church at 10:30 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling hours SUNDAY 4-8 P.M.
