Salem: Rita E. Tina, age 85 of Salem, died Monday, January 24, 2011 at the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Guy C. Tina.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Irene (Begin) Symonds. A resident of Salem for nearly her entire life, Rita devoted most of her years to her family. In later years she was assistant librarian at the Salem High School Library and retired in 1995 from the Salem School Department with 25 years service.
Rita was a member of the Salem Council on Aging and enjoyed Bingo and weekly trips to Foxwoods. She moved from Salem to Emeritus at Cherry Hill in Danvers in May of 2010.

She is survived by two sons, Robert J. Tina and his wife Joy of Lynn, Leonard G. Tina of Danvers, two daughters, Dianne I. Jendraszek and her husband Fred of Salem, Mary Ellen Liani of Beverly, a sister, Mary Preston of Berwick, ME. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Robert, Joseph & Gina Liani, Christopher & Jennifer Jendraszek, Cynthia & Emily Tina, a great-granddaughter Isabella Powers as well as nieces and nephews.
