Mr. Marcel G. “Butch” Ouellette, of Taunton, died unexpectedly Tuesday, January 25 in Morton Hospital. He was the husband of Emma R. (Hathaway) Ouellette. He was born 90 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Alfred and Mary Rose (Gagne) Ouellette. He was educated in Taunton and was a lifelong city resident. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a Meter Supervisor for the Taunton Municipal Lighting Plant, where he had been employed for 37 years. Mr. Ouellette was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served aboard the U.S.S. Boise in both the European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre and the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre, where he participated in the Liberation of the Phillippines. He was a member of the Taunton Lodge of Elks #150, the Italian Naturalization Club, the Lakeville Eagles, the Cristoforo Columbo Club of Plymouth, the Seaside Club of Plymouth and the American Legion Post #40 of Plymouth. He enjoyed visiting Foxwoods. He was a communicant of the former Immaculate Conception Church in Taunton.
In addition to his wife, he leaves several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Gerard and Henry Ouellette, both of Taunton, and the late Brother Justin Ouellette of the Graymoor Friars of New York.
A Funeral Service will be held at The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street on Monday, January 31 at 11:00 A.M. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the V.A. National Cemetery, Bourne. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Sunday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
