Obituary

Mr. George William Turney, age 70, widower of the late Ruth Turney, of Pilot Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Surry County on January 21, 1941 to the late Cornelious “Neil” and Thelma Donathan Turney. Mr. Turney farm and retired from KDH and was a member of Volunteer Primitive Baptist Church. Mr. Turney is survived by five sons and daughter-in-laws, Charles (Faye) Turney of Siloam, Norman Turney of Mt. Airy, Kim (Tammy) Turney of Mt. Airy, Kenny Turney of Pilot Mountain and Matthew Turney of Mt. Airy; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda (Bobby) Craddock of Ararat; step-daughter Heather Buckley of Mt. Airy; eighteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; three sisters and brother-in-laws, Alice Faye (Frank) Thomas of King, Maggie (Bobby) Lawson of Pilot Mountain and Jane (Wade) Ayers of Pinnacle; two brothers and sister-in-law, Carl Ray (Barbara) Turney of Pinnacle and Roger Turney of Pinnacle; special sister-in-laws, Ruby Turney of Pilot Mountain and Norman Gene Sizemore of Madison, NC. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 28, 2011 at Volunteer Primitive Baptist Church at 2:00 P.M with the Elder Ronnie Payne and Elder Bedford Stevens officiating with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 27, 2011 from 6-8 PM at Cox-Needham Funeral Home. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of Forsyth County Pallative Care Hospice.
