Obituary

Doris (Vaughan) Tripp, 91, of Dartmouth, formerly of New Bedford, died Saturday January 3, 2004 at Brandon Woods after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Myron A. Tripp.

Born in Mattapoisett, the daughter of the late Arthur S. and Alice (Davenport) Vaughan, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.

During World War II, she assisted in the war effort by working as a welder at the Cornell-Dubilier Electronics Corporation. She was a loving wife and homemaker. Her favorite pasttimes were gardening, knitting, crocheting, oil painting, singing, and playing the piano.

Survivors include 3 sons, Joseph Vaughan of Westminster, Maryland, Joseph Powers and his wife Linda of Bucyrus, Ohio, and Leon Tripp and his wife Jane of New Bedford; a daughter, Donna Tripp and her fiance, Stanley Garcia of Acushnet; a stepdaughter, Pat Cabral of New Bedford; a brother, Allen T. Vaughan and his wife Doris of Dartmouth; a sister, Mary S. Wilson of Mattapoisett; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the mother-in-law of the late Elaine Vaughan, and sister of the late Elliot Vaughan, Malcolm Vaughan, William Vaughan, Lincoln Vaughan, Lurana Vaughan, Ella Phillips, Hattie Kraihanzel, Marjorie Vaughan, and Ruth Vaughan.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday January 6, 2004 at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Cushing Cemetery, Mattapoisett. Visiting hours will be on Monday January 5, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9.
