Obituary

Robert E. “Bob” Fair, of Natick & Centerville, owner of Fair Insurance Agency of Centerville passed away at his home in Natick on January 24, 2011. He was the beloved husband of Doris P. (Connolly) Fair with whom he shared 51 years of marriage. Mr. Fair was the son of the late Arthur B. Fair, Sr. & Josephine C. (Buckley), father of the late Marianne Fair, & brother of the late Arthur B. Fair, Jr. & Joanne Fallon.

Born in Natick, Mr. Fair was educated in the Natick Public Schools & was a graduate of Natick High School – Class of 1947. While at Natick High he served as Class President & was a member of the Varsity Hockey Team. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Holy Cross College in 1952 & was a member of the Holy Cross Hockey team. Mr. Fair enlisted in the United States Navy in 1952 serving honorably until his discharge in 1954. He was stationed at the U.S. Naval Air Station in Key West, FL & the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal Ribbon. Mr. Fair began his career in the insurance industry with New York Life, then joined his family at Fair & Yeager Insurance in Natick, prior to founding Fair Insurance Agency in Centerville. He was a member of Kiwanis, was the Class of 1952 agent to the Holy Cross College Alumni Association, & a member of the Woodland Golf Club & Willowbend Country Club. A lifelong communicant of St. Patrick’s Parish in Natick & Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville, Mr. Fair was a member of the Adoration Chapel, the Holy Name Society, & was an usher at St. Patrick’s. He was also a member of The Cathill American Gang. Mr. Fair was fondly known as “Charlie” & “Grampy” to his loving family & friends.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his children & their families, Maureen & Paul Yasi & children P.J., Molly, Alli, & Maggie of Swampscott, Caroline Fair & Michael Aw of Millis, Bob & Pam Fair & children Ryan, Hannah, Reilly, Josie, & Betsy of Springboro, OH, Diane & Shaun Sibley & children Shaun, Jr., Patrick, Scott, & David of Natick, Jim & Cathy Fair & children Jack, Tommy, & Andrew of Winchester, & Rich Fair of Natick. He was the brother-in-law of Gerry Fair of Natick, Bob Fallon of Duxbury, Jack & Dolores Connolly of Holliston, Janet & Warren Guinee of S.C., Joan Daly of NJ, & the late Bill Connolly; & is also survived by many nieces & nephews.

Relatives & friends are cordially invited to attend his funeral from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St. (at Natick Common) NATICK on Friday, January 28, 2011 at 10:30 AM to be followed by his Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick’s Church at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Natick. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, January 27 from 4-7 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the Fair family requests that donations in Mr. Fair’s memory be made to the Adoration Chapel of St. Patrick’s Church, 44 East Central St. Natick, MA 01760 or to the Parmenter VNA & Wayside Hospice, 266 Cochituate Rd. Wayland, MA 01778.
