Mr. William Lindsay Vaden, age 91, widower of the late Inez Cardwell Vaden, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Stokes County on April 19, 1919 to the late William Oscar and Ida Jackson Vaden. Mr. Vaden worked as a farmer and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and a member of Toms Creek Primitive Baptist Church. He was a resident at Independence Village for the past three years and made many friends. Mr. Vaden is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Larry (Sylvia) Vaden of Pfafftown; one daughter and son-in-law, Glenda (Darrell) Venable of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Amy (Greg) Gentry, Kelly (Robert) Laws and Bradley (Jennie) Venable; seven great-grandchildren, Nathan Gentry, Balin Gentry, Chloe Gentry, Raeya Gentry, Walter Laws, Bethany Venable Godwin (Steven) and Wesley Venable; one granddaughter-in-law, Cheryl Venable; one brother and sister-in-law, Tom (Cindy) Vaden of Charlotte; two sisters and brother-in-law, Verda Smith of Mt. Airy and Mary (Aubery) Martin of Winston-Salem and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one grandchild, Mitchell Venable and one great-grandchild, Christopher Venable. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Cox-Needham Chapel at 2:00 P.M with interment to follow at Big Creek Primitive Baptist church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM prior to the service.
