Obituary

Marion Turpin Wade, age 92, formerly of 200 Martin Avenue, Danville, died on Sunday, January 23, 2011. She had been in declining health for the past three years.

Born October 1, 1918 in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late William T. Turpin and Fleetwood Royal Turpin. She lived her life in Danville and was employed by Dan River in the 4A Weave Room. She was married to Hersel S. Wade who predeceased her. Mrs. Wade was a member of Riverview Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter: Deanna Wade Woodall of Danville; one grandson: Michael Wade Woodall and his girlfriend Kelli Muleski, both of Orlando, Florida;
One brother: Wliliam T. Turpin, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Lakeland, Florida; two sisters: Iris T. Scott of Hopewell, VA and Evelyn T. Reed of Danville. She is also survived by two step-grandchildren, Robbie Woodall and Patrick Woodall, and by a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, Irvin Turpin, Aubrey Turpin, and Jack Turpin, and by four sisters, Stella Vaughn, Doris Ingle, Cordie Merricks, and Catherine Travis.

Funeral services officiated by Rev. Ronnie Andrews will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the graveside in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Swicegood Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, January 26, 2011, from 7 until 8 p.m.
