Nancy Gammon Owen, age 74, of Lamberth Drive Lot 4, Danville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 22, 2011 in the Danville Regional Medical Center. She had been experiencing a decline in health for 2 months.
Born November 11, 1936 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, in the Bachelor’s Hall community she was the daughter of the late Roy E. “Doc” Gammon and Essie “Clark” Gammon Brown. She lived most of her life in the Westover Community and worked for Dan River Mills in the dress room. She was married to Withers “Wiggs” Herman Owen. Mrs. Owen was a member of the Brosville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter: Vickie Owen Ring and her husband Ronnie of Danville, VA; two sisters: Peggy B. Willard of Bristol, VA and Martha Ozmar of Danville, VA; two brothers: Robert Luther Gammon of Indianapolis, IN and Charlie “Pete” Gammon of Danville, VA; one grandson: Jason Pruitt of Danville, VA; three step grandchildren: Joshua Ring, Justin Ring, and Ashley Woods; and two step great-grandchildren: Kadence Ring and Chloe Woods.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Withers “Wiggs” Herman Owen; and three brothers: Roy E. Gammon, Jr., Jimmy Gammon, and Carl Gammon.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Clark Crowder will be held on Monday, January 24, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Owen Family Cemetery in Brosville. The family will receive friends 7:00-8:30 p.m. on Sunday. At other times the family will receive friends at the home of the daughter Vickie: 6038 Kenridge Circle, Danville, VA.
