TAUNTON – Etelvina (Dias) Tavares, wife of Victor Tavares, died at her home, surrounded by her family on January 21, 2011.
She was 78.
Born in St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria J. (Sousa) Dias.
Mrs. Tavares moved to this country in 1975 and lived in Cambridge, before moving to Taunton eight years ago.
She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.
Besides her husband of sixty-years, she leaves four sons, Jose Manuel Amaral Tavares of Somerville, Emanuel Amaral Tavares of Everett, Mario Jorge Amaral Tavares, and Victor Amaral Tavares both of Taunton; two daughters, Zelia Maria Amaral Tavares of Taunton, and Ana Paula Silva of Everett; two brothers, Manuel Dias of Cambridge, and Jose Manuel Sousa Dias of Portugal; twenty grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Fatima Amaral Tavares, and sister of the late Joao Dias, Dinalda Aloncae, and Maria da Boanova Furtado.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Tuesday January 25th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Andrew the Apostle Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
