Mrs. Ruby Irene Joyce Edwards, of 1751 Edwards Farm Road, King, NC 27021, age 87, widow of the late Samuel Odell Edwards, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2011 at Village Care of King. She was born in Stokes County on November 15, 1923 to the late Cyphres Reid and Martha Alice Inman Joyce. Mrs. Edwards worked as a homemaker and was a member of Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church. Mrs. Edwards is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Carlton Barr of King; one granddaughter, Renee and Lonnie Livengood of King; two grandsons, Tyler and Jennifer Barr of King and Nathaniel and Laurie Barr of King; two great-grandsons, Clay and Reid Livengood; one sister and brother-in-law, Runie Mae and Pat Needham of Pilot Mountain. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mickey Smith. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church at 4:00 P.M with the Rev. Nathan Snider officiating with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 till 4:00 PM before the service on Sunday, January 23, 2011. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 2185 Chestnut Grove Road, King, NC 27021 or to Stokes County Hospice, PO Box 187, Danbury, NC 27016.
