Georgetown: Raymond E. Ouellette age 64 of Georgetown, died unexpectedly Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital while surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Martha A. (Martin) Ouellette, with whom he shared 37 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Leo E. and Noella (Levesque) Ouellette. A graduate of St. Joseph Academy, Ray joined the Air Force and served in Japan, in supplies, during the Vietnam War. Following his tour of duty, he returned to Salem and began working for New England Telephone. He retired from Verizon as a power technician in 2003.
Ray was devoted to his wife and family as well as his very large extended family. He had a passion for anything with wheels and was keenly interested in the latest technologies.
In addition to his wife Martha, he is survived by two daughters, Nicole McKenna and her husband Kevin of W. Peabody, Cherise Ouellette and her boy friend Jonathan Burke of Beverly, a son, Patrick R. Ouellette and his wife Christine of Hampton, NH, a brother Henry Ouellette and his wife Jill of Salem, 4 sisters, Jeanne O’Donoghue and her husband Robert of Georgetown, Linda Philibert and her husband Jeannot of Matane, P.Q., Rita Romanovitz and her husband Keith of Salem, Ann Connor and her fiancée, Merritt Lyons of Salem. He is also survived by 2 granddaughters, Maeve Caitlin Ouellette, Audrey Marie McKenna as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Brady McKenna.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem on Monday, January 24, 2011 at 8 a.m. to be followed by his funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, Salem at 9 a.m. Visiting hours: Sunday 2 to 6 p.m.
