Helen (Higgins) Norton, 79, of New York City died January 18, 2011 at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York.
She was the wife Richard E. Norton.
Born in Blackburn, Scotland, daughter of the late John and Margaret (Cosgrove) Higgins, she had lived in the United States since 1960.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church of Yorkville, New York.
Mrs. Norton served in the Women's Royal Air Force from 1949 to 1953.
Survivors include her husband; 2 daughters, Susan P. DiCerto and her husband Michael DiCerto of New York City, and Heather Smart and her husband Fred Smart of Bathgate, Scotland; a sister, Catherine Smyth of Bathgate, Scotland.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Monday, January 24th at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 121 Mt. Pleasant St. New Bedford at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, January 23rd from 2-5 PM.
