David P. Franceschi, a long-time teacher and guidance counselor at Medford High School, died Tuesday January 18th after a long illness. He was 66.
Born and raised in Medford, he was the son late Joseph and the late Elsie (Wyman) Franceschi. A graduate with Medford High’s class of 1962 and of Northeastern University in 1969, David taught in the Science Department at Medford High School for over 34 years. For the last several years of his career he served as a guidance counselor in Medford Vocational High School, until he retired. David was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed the company of his family and friends. He also loved to spend time fly-fishing and traveling with friends to Wells Beach and Aruba.
He was the beloved husband of Loretta (Cangiano) Franceschi with whom he shared 40 years of marriage. He was a devoted father to Angela Franceschi of North Reading and Paul Franceschi and his wife Jennie of Westbrook, ME. He was a loving and proud grandfather to Ryan. He was a dear son-in-law of Angela Cangiano and the late Emanuel and a dear brother to J. Michael Franceschi of Peabody, Joan DeMattia of Burlington and the late Carol Hornberger.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Friday, January 21st, at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family at the funeral home Thursday from 4 thru 8 PM.
