Ruthie Martin Joyner, age 79, died on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at her home in Water Valley, MS. Ruthie was born on July 7, 1931 to the late William and Clara Martin. She was a seamstress at Big Yank where she retired after forty-four years of service. Ruthie loved her family and her grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and she enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and music. Ruthie attended First Christian Church of Water Valley, MS.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 20, 2011 from 12 Noon until 2 PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home of Water Valley, MS. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 2 PM in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Hal Clark and Bro. David Freeman officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley, MS with Lance Clement, Chad Joyner, Blake Joyner, Donald Tutor, Timmy Martin, and Hack Martin serving as pallbearers.
Ruthie is survived by her daughter, Beverly J. (Jerry) Davis of Water Valley, MS; two sons, Mike Joyner of Amory, MS and Joey (Amy) Joyner of Water Valley, MS; a sister, Thela Martin of Water Valley, MS; six grandchildren, Andrea (Lance) Clement, Chad Joyner, Blake Joyner, Chancie Joyner, Chestin Joyner, and Logan Joyner; two step-grandchildren, Sarah Easley and Jamie Easley; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Joyner; and four brothers, Delane Martin, Dayton Martin, Johnny Martin, and Bobby Martin.
