Beloved husband of 44 years to Rita (Piotrowicz) Amante of North Weymouth. Loving father of Greg Amante and his wife Lisa of Medway and Jeff Amante and his wife Cheryl of Braintree. Devoted grandfather of Matthew, Ashley, Anabelle, Jack, John and Anneliese. Joseph is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joe was born in Boston. He was a graduate of Roslindale High School and Newbury Junior College. Joe worked as warehouse business manager for 25 years before retiring in 1991 due to medical reasons. Joe was a Corvette enthusiast and past officer of the South Shore Corvette Club. He was an avid Patriots fan and enjoyed his tailgates at Gillette for many years. He loved his Golden Retrievers and cooking was a passion. Most of all, Joe loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who affectionately called him Bobo. Joe fought a valiant battle against cancer for many years resulting in a chronic heart condition. To know him was to love him.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Wednesday, January 19, 2011 3PM - 7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15AM on Thursday, January 20, 2011 prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Jerome's Church at 10:00 AM.
Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
