RUTH MARGARET (JACOBSON) NOWACK, age 94, died on Tuesday, Dec. 9th at the Life Care Center of Plymouth. Born in Chicago, IL on August 21, 1909, she was the daughter of John and Hattie (Hendrickson) Jacobson and wife of the late Clarence Richard Nowack.
Mrs. Nowack was the mother of Nancy N. Noble of Plymouth, Patricia Thompson of Bear Valley Springs, CA and Susan Cook Thanas of Duxbury. Also survived by 18 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
She and her husband raised their daughters while living in Chicago and Park Ridge, IL, Ridgewood, NJ, and Cohasset. They also lived in Little Silver, NJ, Plymouth, Hyannis and Stuart, FL. Mrs. Nowack moved back to Massachusetts in 1996, where she lived her daughter Susan in Duxbury and most recently at the New England Friends Home in Hingham and the Life Care Center in Plymouth. Her strong Christian faith gave her a positive outlook.
She was a 1926 honors graduate of Carl Schurz High School in Chicago. In her early years she was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed participating in local theater and producing plays. While living in Plymouth in the 1970's, she was historian and Pilgrim hostess at Plimoth Plantation. She loved art and painted beautiful landscapes. Her greatest love was for her family, in whose visits she delighted. She conscientiously remembered all her grandchildren and great grandchildren on their birthdays and at Christmas.
A Memorial Service, followed by a reception, will be held on Saturday, Dec. 27th at 11 AM at the Second Congregational Church, 43 Highland Ave., Cohasset.
The interment will be on Sunday, Jan. 18th, 2004 at Ridgewood Cemetery in DesPlaines, IL .
