JACK S. INGLIS, a Hingham resident for the past 62 years, died on Sunday, Jan. 16th, 2011 at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth at the age of 94. Mr. Inglis was born in Lawrence, MA and was an electrical inspector by profession. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and for his service was awarded the Silver Star Medal. During his later years, he was well known for his association with several local supermarkets including Angelos, Purity Supreme and Stop & Shop. He also was a longtime member of Old Colony Masonic Lodge in Hingham.
He was the husband of Gertrude C. (Hatch) Inglis of Hingham and father of Beverly Ring and her husband Gerald of Blackstone, VA and Elizabeth Parker and her husband Robert of Hingham. Grandfather of Julie Ferguson and her husband Darrell of Maine, Christine Griffin of Abington, Stacey Parker and her fiance Eric Reera of Northwood, NH and Dianna Lake and her husband Barry of Plymouth. Brother of Agnes White of Weymouth and the late Lloyd White. Also survived by 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham on Wednesday evening from 5-8 PM. A Masonic Service will be conducted by Old Colony Lodge of Hingham on Wednesday evening at 7:30 PM. A reception will be held on Thursday, Jan. 20th at 2 PM at the home of Elizabeth Parker, 20 Carleton Rd., Hingham.
