Obituary

Gloucester: Pamela M. Winninghoff, died Friday, January 14, 2011 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Alexandria, Egypt to Marie and Arthur Williams. After spending her early years in Egypt she moved with her family to Cardiff, Wales. As a young teen Pam moved to Jamaica due to the war in Europe.
In 1950 Pam married Thomas Ashley Burton and moved, first to Bermuda, and then to the United States. In 1964 she remarried to John Dawson Winninghoff. This marriage would eventually bring her to Gloucester, where she would make her home for the rest of her life.
In Gloucester she became one of the most successful real estate brokers on Cape Ann, eventually working for several of the most elite firms in the area as well as having her own company for some time. She was the holder of numerous awards and advanced certifications, reflecting the excellence and professionalism she brought to her career.
Pam had a broad range of interests and friends. From the time she came to Gloucester she has been a supporter of the Cape Ann Animal Aid, the Gloucester Garden Club, and worked for Grey 2k to end greyhound racing in Massachusetts.
Pam is survived by her son, Mark W. Winninghoff, and his wife Darlene of Danvers; her daughter Ferne Barnett, and her husband John of Fort Collins, CO; four grandchildren, Chris Winninghoff of Danvers, Jessica Barnett of Dallas, TX, Ben Barnett of Castle Rock, CO and Katherine Barnett of Los Angeles, CA, and a great-grandchild Oliver Barnett of Castle Rock.
Pam greatly valued her relationships with her neighbors, friends, colleagues and clients. She wanted to express her deep gratitude to all those who touched her life over the years, and to all of those whose love and caring sustained her through both happy and difficult times.
Her funeral services will be held on Wednesday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 – 11 a.m. Interment will be held in the Seaside Cemetery in Lanesville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Cape Ann Animal Aid, 260 Main St., Gloucester, MA 01930.
