Maria P. Fonseca, age 90, of Somerset and formerly of Fall River, passed away Jan. 14, 2011. She was the wife of the late Agostinho Tavares Grillo. Born in Rabo de Peixe, Sao Miguel, Azores, the daughter of the late Agostinho Gonsalves Fonseca & Maria da Gloria (Oliveira) Fonseca. Maria was a homemaker and a communicant of St. Michael Church.
Maria was the mother of Gabriel Tavares of Toronto, Canada, Manuel Tavares of Fall River, Eugenia da Silva of Fall River, Gloria Oliveira of E. Providence, the late Jose Augusto Tavares & Antonio Grillo, sister of Maria Angelina Gouveia of Fall River, Candida Perreira & Horina Rocha both of Canada, the late Marcelino da Silva, Maria da Conceicao Barroso & Maria dos Anjos Tavares, grandmother of 18, great grandmother of 16, and aunt of many nieces & nephews.
Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME 1521 N. Main St., Fall River TUESDAY at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church at 10:30 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours MONDAY 5-8 P.M.
