Abington - Joseph Nisby 90, a life long resident of Abington died in his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday January 12.
He was the son of the late Saba and Hifa Nisby and the beloved husband of the late Catherine A. (Johnston) Nisby. He was the loving father of Patricia and Don Napp of Trabuco Canyon, Ca, Kathleen Stocker of Dover, NH, Anne Marie and William Forbush of Bridgewater, Irene Umbrianna of Duxbury, Theresa and Michael Collins of Abington, Mary Giannone of Abington, Brenda and Thomas Finnerty of Foxboro, and Julie and Thomas Barry of Kingston. He was the proud grandfather of Jenna, Brian, Rachael, Caitlin, Elyse, Kevin, Peter, Anthony, Michael, Catherine, Joseph, Natalie, Domenic, Erik, and Marc. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Nisby was a successful businessman for many years in the town of Abington and the surrounding area. He had served on the Abington School Committee for 21 years.
Mr. Nisby is recognized for his many generous contributions to various charities and organizations.
His services will be held Wednesday January 19 at 9:30 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 AM in St. Bridget Church, Abington. Burial will follow in the St. Patrick Cemetery, Rockland. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday January 18 from 3-8 PM.
