Ryland Dean Terry, of 9112 Spring Garden Road, Blairs, VA., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 13, 2011
He was born in the Keeling area of Pittsylvania County on August 22, 1935, son of E. Linwood Terry and Eva Simmons Terry.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Jay Farson Terry, whom he married on March 27, 1954.
Ryland was a lifetime member of Chestnut Level Baptist Church. He served as Sunday
School superintendent for 25 years, teacher and leader of the R. A. Boys, and served as a deacon. He was a self employed
farmer, employee of Ennis, and retired as vice president of production at Duffie Graphics. He was a friend to all who knew
him. He enjoyed coon hunting over the years with many friends and especially his grandson, Jason.
He is survived by his daughters, Teresa T. Finch of Dry Fork and Rhonda T. Adkins and husband, Sid, of Fuquay Varina, NC.;
one brother Billy Terry of Blairs and one sister, Edith T. Yeatts, of Climax.
He also leaves behind his grandchildren, who were the joys of his life, Jason Finch, Travis Finch, Devon Finch, Sidney Adkins, III,
and Grace Adkins. He also is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by
two brothers, Ernest Terry and Ray Terry, and two sisters, Betty T. Shelton and Doris T. Moss.
The family will friends at Chestnut Level Baptist Church on Friday, January 14, 2011 between 6:30 and 8:00 p.m. Funeral
services will be held Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Chestnut Level Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce Miller and the
Rev. Julian Griffin officiating, with a eulogy by Michael Burnette. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will be at the residence, 9112 Spring Garden Road, Blairs.
