Obituary

Wallace, George L. "Spike" of Quincy, passed away peacefully at home on January 12, 2011, after a brief illness.

Beloved husband of 65 years to the late Theresa (Corrigan) Wallace. Devoted father of Anne Marie Walport and her husband Ed of Farragut, TN, Theresa Kerrigan, Gigi Wallace and Stephanie Blaikie, all of Quincy, Mary Jo Collins and her husband Rob of Plymouth, George L. Wallace, Jr and his wife Michelle of Hernando, MS and the late Maureen (Renie) Bell. He is predeceased by 3 brothers and one sister. Loving brother-in-law of Mildred O'Hare of Quincy and Saul Thomas Corrigan of PA. Also survived by 17 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Spike was born and raised in Quincy, graduating from North Quincy High School in 1942, where he was the star running back on the football team and catcher on the baseball team. He is an inductee of the N.Q.H.S Football Hall of Fame. He proudly enlisted in the U.S. Marines after graduating and served in the South Pacific until the end of WWII. An American flag could always be seen in front of his home. He later became a Quincy Police Officer for 32 years, retiring in 1985. Spike was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, wearing his team hat for each season. He was an animal lover and also enojyed walking daily, bike riding and working out at the YMCA.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Monday 4 - 8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Tuesday, prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church at 10 AM.

Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
