Obituary

BILLERICA: John A. Shaw, age 77, a resident of Billerica for 48 years, passed away on Monday, January 10, 2011 at Saints Medical Center in Lowell, following an apparent heart attack.
He was the beloved husband of Marion (Haas) Shaw, with whom he celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on July 20, 2010.
Born in Danville, PA on January 19, 1933, he was the son of the late Marlin Shaw and the late Emma (Lewis) Shaw.
John was raised in Shamokin, PA, attended Shamokin schools and graduated from Shamokin High School. He later attended and graduated from Northeastern University in Boston.
Mr. Shaw served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. Chilton and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal for his military service.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as an engineer by the Digital Corporation , where he worked for over 20 years. Mr. Shaw previously worked for the Honeywell Corporation and Hewlett-Packard.
John resided in Tewksbury until moving to Billerica in 1963.
Mr. Shaw was a member of the Billerica Lodge of Elks and the George A. Campbell American Legion Post # 101 of Woburn.
John enjoyed caring for and the companionship of his dog and buddy, Nicholas II.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by one daughter, Candice Reale and her husband John of Woburn; one son, George L. Fay of Castleton, NY; one sister, Cheryl Villella and her husband Tony of Sinnamahoning, PA; two brothers, Glenn Shaw of PA and Ned Shaw and his wife Michelle of South Williamsport, PA.
Calling hours Friday, Jan. 14, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 15, at 11 a.m., in the funeral home. Following cremation, interment will be at Tewksbury Cemetery. At the request of the family kindly Omit Flowers.
