Mr. James A. O'Neil, Of Woburn, age 80, died Sunday, January 9, 2011, in the VA Boston Health Care of West Roxbury. James was the beloved son of the late Mary (Higgins) O'Neil & Arthur F. O'Neil.
James was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Proudly serving from 1951 to 1954. He was a former crane operator for Domino's Sugar Co., which was located in Boston and a retired custodian from the Sister's of St. Joseph Church in Boston. Soon after James retired, he moved to Moncks Corner, SC, where he spent 10 years before moving back to Woburn. Some of his hobbies included reading, bowling, singing and dancing.
James is survived by his Life Companion, Catherine "Sis" MacDonald. Devoted father of Sheila O'Neil of Lynn, James O'Neil Jr. of Middleboro, Kathleen Hodge and her husband William of Florida, Pauline Dickson and her husband Geoff of Weymouth and the late Mary Ellen Carkin. Also survived by 8 loving grandchildren. Brother of the late Frances O'Neil, John Paul O'Neil, Mary Mahoney, and Helen Martin. Uncle Zippo too many loving nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held at St Charles Church, 280 Main St. Woburn, Saturday, January 15th at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours have kindly been omitted. Interment will be private.
