Augusta, GA---Entered into rest on January 9, 2011 at Brookdale Place, Mrs. Sharon Murphy Ellington, who was preceded in death by her late husband, Dr. Preston David Ellington.
The funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 14, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church with Reverend George Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
Mrs. Ellington was a native of Oviedo, Florida and graduated from Orlando Junior College and the Emory University School of Nursing. She was a retired Registered Nurse, from the Veteran’s Administration Hospital and a homemaker. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Trinity Bible Class.
Survivors include her son, Joseph Preston Ellington (Barbara) of Augusta, GA, two daughters, Barbara Ellington Tyler of Augusta, GA and Amy Ellington Perryman (Craig) of Hartsfield, GA, her two brothers, Robert Durward Murphy (Jo) of Orlando, FL and Charles William Murphy (Frances) of Mims, FL, seven grandchildren, Amanda Ellington Atkinson (Bert) of Marietta, GA, Laura Elizabeth Carpenter Ellington and Jarrett Benjamin Ellington of Augusta, GA, Tyler Craig Perryman of Carrollton, GA, Aubrey Anna Perryman, Everley Mead Perryman and Elle Alaura Perryman of Hartsfield, GA and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jarrett Benjamin Ellington and Tyler Craig Perryman, her nephew, Dr. Dennis Wayne Murphy, Tracy Albert Atkinson, III, Albert Strother Candler, Jr. and Wyatt Edmond Windham. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Trinity Bible Class.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 13, 2011 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Platt’s Crawford Avenue.
The family would like to thank all of the staff and friends at Brookdale Place of Augusta, for their loving care and support and also the staff of Heartland Hospice this past week.
