Everett Nelson, 80, of West Bridgewater, formerly of Brockton died unexpectedly January 10, 2011 at Signature Healthcare-Brockton Hospital. He was the loving husband for 57 years of Ann M. (Furfaro) Nelson. Born in Brockton, he was the son of the late Sture and Elsa (Petterson) Nelson. He was a graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1948 and served in the US Air Force in 1949. Everett had been employed as an inspector for over 20 years by the Department of Agriculture, retiring in 1992. For over 45 years he had the pleasure of playing cards monthly with the same group of friends; was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, fishing, winters in Florida and the Boston Red Sox.
He is also survived by two daughters, Terri Sullivan and her husband Jack of Berkley and Paula Garrels and her husband Allen of Brockton; three grandchildren, Eric and Andrew Garrels and Carrie Sullivan. He was the father of the late Mark S. and Brian S. Nelson and brother of the late Roy Nelson.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Friday at 9am. Funeral Mass at 10am in St. Ann Church, West Bridgewater. Burial in Melrose Cemetery. Visiting Hours Thursday 3-7pm.
