Mary Lou (Gainey) Izzo, 66, of Mansfield passed away peacefully, in the presence of her loving family on Tuesday January 11, 2011 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the beloved longtime companion of Kenneth N. Moore.
Born in Boston, MA on June 14, 1944, she was a loving daughter of the late John J. and Margaret (Cuff) Gainey.
Mary Lou grew up in Boston, was educated in Boston public schools and was a 1962 graduate of Roslindale High School. She had made her home in Mansfield for the past 41 years.
Mary Lou had been employed at the former Motorola Co. in Mansfield, where she had worked for 18 years prior to retiring in 1997. She later served as a volunteer at the Mansfield Town Hall.
An avid gardener, she was a member of the Mansfield Garden Club. Mary Lou loved spending time with her adoring family, especially her grandchildren, and also enjoyed dancing.
In addition to her beloved companion of over 20 years, she is survived by her devoted children Diana Eagerman and her husband Sumner of Norton, Joanne Mueller and her husband Mark of Brookline and Daniel R. Izzo and his wife Jennifer of Bellingham. The dear sister of John Gainey of Florida, Lorraine of Quincy and the late James Gainey, she is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Cassie and Cara Eagerman of Norton and Jessica and Derek Izzo of Bellingham.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday January 15th at 6:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield.
Visitation will be held prior to the services beginning at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
