Blanche Harris Finley, age 87, died at her residence in Danville on Monday, January 10, 2011.
Born March 18, 1923 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late William Thomas Harris and Grace Foster Harris. She worked at Dan River for a number of years and later in food service with Piedmont Vending. Her husband Carl Ray Finley predeceased her. Mrs. Finley was a member of First Independent Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Finley Sawyers of Danville, two brothers: James Thomas Harris and his wife Ruth of Danville, Ray E. “Buddy” Harris of Danville; one sister: Mildred H. Isom of Danville; one grandson: Jerry Wayne Sawyers, Jr. of Danville; two great-grandchildren: Kristen Fowler and her husband Matt of Reidsville, and James Matt Sawyers of Eden. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Richard Morris will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at two o’clock at the Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends in the chapel one hour prior to the service, and at other times they will be at the home of her sister, Mildred Isom, 1149 Franklin Turnpike, Danville, VA.
