SPENCER: Rita P. (Delongchamp) Morin, 99, of 23 Maple Terrace died peacefully on Monday, Jan. 10 in St. Francis Nursing & Rehab Center in Worcester, her home for the past 11 years.
She was the wife of Alfred G. Morin, Sr. who died in 2001. She leaves her son Alfred G. Morin, Jr. and his wife LouAnn of Spencer, her grandchildren Melissa M. Morin-Bernard and her husband Jeffrey and their son Bryce of Charlton and Jarrett A. Morin and his wife Jill and their daughters Renee and Sydney of Spencer, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister Doris Berthiaume in 1992.
Born in Spencer, she was the daughter of Alex and Clara (Delisle) Delongchamp and was a life long resident.
Rita assisted her husband with the family funeral business as bookkeeper and hairdresser over the years. She was Clerk of the Selective Service Bureau in Spencer from 1940-46. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church (Mary, Queen of the Rosary Parish), it’s St. Anne’s Sodality, former Secretary and member of its’ Women’s Guild, Eucharistic Minister, former Red Cross Blood Bank Chairman, and Friends of Assumption College. She was former Secretary of the Spencer District Nurse Association and former Secretary of the Spencer Arts Guild. Rita was an accomplished artist, having painted many paintings over the years. She enjoyed travel, playing golf, her summer cottage at Cranberry Lake, blueberry and strawberry picking, her grand and great grandchildren and many close friends that she cherished over the years.
The family would like to thank the Sisters at St. Francis Home for their spiritual care of Rita. A special thank you to her Nurse Practitioner Linda Satkowski and Dr. Russell Young, her favorite nurse Dave who gave her exceptional care over the years, and all of the Staff on 3 North.
The funeral will be held on Friday, Jan. 14 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 10am. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow in Mary,Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer.
