Obituary

Boston – William L. “Bill” Jones, 64, of E. Freetown and Port St. Lucie, FL died January 1, 2011 at Mass. General Hospital. He was the husband of Deborah (Sykes) Jones.

Mr. Jones was born in Dighton, son of the late Bertrand C., Sr. and Monica (McCarthy) Jones. He was raised by his uncle and aunt, Al and Florence Golliff. During his high school years, he played the alto saxophone. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed by the accounting department of Falmouth Hospital for several years, went on to own and operate Chelsea’s Restaurant in South Carolina and finally was the owner/operator of Admiral Insurance Agency Inc., Stuart, FL until his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion. He was fond of classical music, enjoyed building computers, photography, cooking, loved sports and was an avid golfer. He always enjoyed having family and friends around. Most importantly, he treasured the time spent with his daughter and his grandsons.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by a daughter: Tracie Dubuque and her husband Don of Merrillville, IN; 2 grandsons: Jeffrey and Joseph Dubuque; 6 sisters: Ruthanna Smith, Theresa Andersen, Sandra Fobert, Rhonda McGrail, Joanne Ashfaq, and Nancy Roberts; 5 brothers: Bertrand C. Jones, Jr., Thomas J. Jones, Michael K. Jones, Joseph Folger and Robert Golliff; and numerous nieces & nephews.

He was brother of the late David F. Jones.

Memorial donations may be made to the Veteran’s Transition House, 20 Willis Street, New Bedford, MA 02749.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the Kirby Funeral Home, 61 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford.

Burial was in White Cemetery, E. Freetown.
