Robert E. Weir, 73, of Myrtle Beach formerly of Mansfield and Easton passed away on Friday January 7, 2011 at the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach. He was the beloved husband of the late Norma M. (Titus) Weir who died on February 24, 1987.
Born in Easton, MA on March 31, 1937, he was a son of the late Samuel L. and Evelyn E. (Johnson) Weir.
Bob grew up in Easton and was educated in Easton public schools. A retired Engraver, Mr. Weir had been employed at the Foxboro Co. in Foxboro Co. for over 30 years prior to retiring.
Bob loved and possessed a talent for building large scale doll houses. He also enjoyed projects around his house and feeding the ducks which frequented his back yard. Mr. Weir had made his home in Myrtle Beach for the past 17 years and was a former longtime resident of Mansfield and Easton.
He is survived by his devoted sons Kenneth R. Weir and his wife Janice of Attleboro, Thomas L,. Weir and his wife Lori of Norton, Gregory P. Weir of Attleboro and was the father of the late Laura L. Bagg. The dear brother of Shirley Tufts and her husband Robert of Easton, Mr. Weir is also survived by his loving 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and was the longtime companion of Eleanor Leighton of Myrtle Beach.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday January 15th at 10:00 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton. Burial will follow in the Spring Brook Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday January 14th from 5-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
