Ruth M. (Pelton) Fidler, a resident of Winthrop and former longtime resident of Charlestown, died on Friday, January 7, 2011 at her home in Winthrop following an extended illness. She was 84 years old.
Ruthie was born in Medford on November 23, 1926 to the late Arthur and Catherine (McNamara) Pelton. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1944. Ruthie worked for over 25 years as a Supervisor at the J.F.K. Family Service Center in Charlestown.
Ruthie is the beloved wife of the late William J. Fidler. She is the devoted mother of William F. Fidler and his wife Lisa of Rhode Island, Karen Fidler of Winthrop and Maureen Fidler of Winthrop. She is the loving grandmother of Marthe and Aidan Fidler. She is the beloved sister of the late Arthur Pelton. She is the devoted cousin of Jean Gilson of Wilmington and the late Joe Connolly. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Ruthie's Funeral on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Interment at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Visiting hours will be on Monday, January 10, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m.
