Obituary

Tommy Lee Whitley, 61, closed his eyes in final rest on Thursday evening, January 6, 2011 at his residence in Yulee, Florida. Tommy, originally from Blackshear, Georgia, moved to Nassau County 27 years ago with his family. He worked for the Nassau County Road Department for 18 years before he was disabled in 2003.

Tommy was an avid fisherman and was very excited when his grandson, Hunter, turned out to be one also. He spent most of his time with Hunter and enjoyed telling him stories. They had a strong bond and Tommy will forever be carried in his heart. Tommy also loved to have his yard sales, enjoying meeting people that came to them. He had a wonderful sense of humor and everyone enjoyed being around him. Tommy was a U. S. Army veteran, serving in Viet Nam and Germany before his honorable discharge in 1970.
