James Arruda, age 82, of Fall River passed away January 5, 2011. He was the husband of Hilda (Do Rego) Arruda. Born in Remedios da Bretanha, Sao Miguel, Azores, the son of the late John S. & Emily (Morreira) Arruda. James was a retired carpenter with J.F. White Construction Co., a member of the Our Lady of Light Band Club and a parishioner of Espirito Santo Church.
James was the father of Anselmo Arruda of Pembroke, MA, Filomena Smith of Charleston, SC., Margaret Arruda of Fall River, Maria Mercedes DaCosta and Maria Rose Doherty, both of Somerset, Reginald Arruda of Bristol, RI, Leonora Bouchard of Swansea, and Peter Arruda of Tiverton, RI., the brother of Manuel S. Arruda, Teresinha Silva, Leontina Arruda, and Maria Hilario all of Fall River, Rev. Henry Arruda of Taunton, Clement Arruda of Dartmouth, late Emilia Rego, late Joseph S. Arruda, and the late John S. Arruda, grandfather of 11, great grandfather of 1, and uncle to several nieces & nephews.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME 1521 N. Main St., Fall River MONDAY at 10:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Espirito Santo Church at 11:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling hours SUNDAY 4-8 P.M.
